Michael Savage vs CAIR

On the surface using only a four minute clip from a two hour show is obviously a case of fair use by CAIR.
A federal judge said Friday that she was leaning toward tossing out conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage’s copyright theft lawsuit against an Islamic lobbying group who used portions of the popular program to solicit donations and call for an advertising boycott of “The Savage Nation.”
…
CAIR placed the clip next to an area to make donations and its call to boycott “The Savage Nation” show heard by as many as 8 million listeners a day. The Washington D.C.-based group said it and allied organizations have convinced more than a dozen companies, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., GEICO insurance company and Sprint Nextel Corp., to withhold advertising from the show.
U.S. District Judge Susan Illston seems to want to give Savage another shot but basically tossed out the copyright suit as it is written. What concerns me however is the willingness of some large influential companies to throw Savage under the bus just because CAIR complained, or threatened.
I’m sure Wal-Mart Stores Inc., GEICO, and Sprint Nextel Corp have millions upon millions of Muslim customers but come on. I could embed a thousand YouTube clips (Google “enraged Arabs”) on this post providing empirical evidence that the Quran is a “Book of Hate” so its not like Savage is spreading falsehoods. Hell, the clip needs to be on the CAIR site. Savage should be happy the clip is on CAIR’s site if spreading the word is his goal. He should sue to make CAIR put the whole two hours on their site. He might want to look into some serious bodyguards, too.
I doubt Wal Marts has anything to worry about because the masses can not afford to purchase the myriad household goods from anyone else and remain solvent but I wonder how effective a little boycott action towards Geico and Sprint Nextel would be? Those companies spend an awful lot on advertising and brand image so I doubt they would care for Viral Boycott Campaign targeting the little GEICO Lizard.
How about this:
GEICO has taken a special interest in serving the U.S. Military since the company’s founding in 1936. GEICO provides discount programs and service options that can best serve U.S. troops at home and overseas during wartime as well as peacetime.
I wonder if the military personnel who buy GEICO (Government Employees Insurance COmpany) insurance think the Quran is a “Book of Hate” or if it is just the bible for a bunch of peace-niks.
I am not defending Savage because I’m a big Savage fan. I haven’t listened to him in years and I have never bought one of his books but I do find much of what he says hard to argue with. But if the savage Islamic fascists think Michael Savage is worth attacking, then Michael Savage is worth defending on principle. After all, this is an ideological war we are fighting where the most powerful weapon is propaganda. Maybe The Savage Nation is having an influence on certain people in certain communities, like, say, Dearborn Michigan and the Mullahs and Imams and Ayatollahs and the rest of the Muslim peaceniks aren’t happy about it.
Perhaps Savage has succeeded in some way with his lawsuit. He has convincingly demonstrated that the Islamic power structure has deep and powerful roots right here in the heart of the Good Ole U. S. of A. But don’t worry, they are a peaceful bunch.

“…if the savage Islamic fascists think Michael Savage is worth attacking, then Michael Savage is worth defending on principle.”
That says it all my friend.
